Cowan, Panthers win state titles
By Sentinel Sports Staff
Lynne Cowan of Sierra College (Rocklin) shot a 75 for a two-day total of 152 to win the individual title at the California Community College women's golf championships at Kings Country Club on Tuesday.
Cowan defeated Kayla Riede of Sacramento City College by two three strokes. First-round leader Ellen Krausse of Bakersfield College shot an 87 on the second day to fall out of contention.
Kelsey Alcala of West Hills College Lemoore finished tied for 26th after a two-day score of 180.
Sac City won the team title with a total score of 668, five shots better than Bakersfield. Palomar (San Marcos) was third with 682, followed by Canada (Redwood City) with 714.
