Jacob D. Ramirez: Air Force Airman Jacob D. Ramirez graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the grandson of John Shankland of Riverdale and Joyce Shankland of Hanford.

Ramirez is a 2009 graduate of Riverdale High School.
Brandie M. Parsons: Air Force Airman Brandie M. Parsons graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

She is the daughter of Stacey and Barbara Parsons of Hanford.

Parsons is a 2009 graduate of Hanford West High School.

Clarissa A. Parker: Navy Seaman Clarissa A. Parker, daughter of Avon R. Parker of Hanford,  recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Parker completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly “Navy” flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor.

Parker is a 2009 graduate of Hanford West High School.

Justine M. Pelchoro: Air Force Airman Justine M. Pelchoro graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

She earned distinction as an honor graduate.

Pelchoro is the daughter of Janie Diaz and Tommy Pelchoro both of Hanford.

The airman is a 2008 graduate of Hanford High School.

Jarred L. Whited: Navy Airman Jarred L. Whited, son of Debbie Whited of Lemoore and Norman T. Whited of Porterville, and more than 5, 000 fellow sailors and Marines aboard the Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), San Diego, recently returned from a five-month deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility (AOR).

Whited is a 2008 graduate of Jamison High School of Lemoore and joined the Navy in October 2008.
