Trick or treat event, costume party to take place downtown Thursday
For The Sentinel
Members of the community can bring the kids downtown Thursday night for a safe, fun evening, including old-fashioned trick-or-treating, costume contest and a children's parade from 5 to 7 p.m.
The evening's event will include small children going door to door to participating merchants to receive candy and other treats. Streets that will be closed during the event include Seventh Street (between Douty and Irwin streets), and Irwin Street (between Seventh and Eighth streets).
The costume contest will begin at 6:15 p.m. with prizes and trophies. The contest will take place in front of the Help U Sell Real Estate office at 107 W. Seventh St.
A children's costume parade will follow at approximately 6:45 p.m. The parade route will start at Seventh and Douty streets, proceeding to Irwin Street and ending at Irwin and Eighth streets.
The carousel located at Irwin and 8th streets will be giving free rides during the event.
Festive music and DJ Services will be provided during the event by C&H Productions.
Merchants will be distributing information regarding special offers to parents to take advantage of promotions they will be offering throughout the holiday season. Merchants' participation will be prominently displayed in their window.
This is a community event that is sponsored by several businesses and organizations.
