Gusting winds, dust prompt health warnings

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has issued a health warning for wind-blown dust today. The warning, in effect through midnight, recommends that people with respiratory and heart diseases take precautions such as staying indoors. Children and older adults are advised to avoid prolonged exposure, strenuous activities or heavy exertion outside.

The winds are expected to peak in strength in the evening and diminish Wednesday morning.
