Final witnesses expected today in Hawk trial
By Sentinel Staff
The trial of Dave Hawk is expected to have its final day of witness testimony today, and is expected to head to closing arguments on Tuesday.
Judge Daniel Creed said at the end of Thursday's proceedings that the defense would likely call its final witnesses this morning in the trial of the Lemoore man accused of murdering his ex-wife. Debbie Hawk went missing in June 2006 and her body has never been found.
The prosecution rested its case in the middle of last week. Both sides are expected to give their closing arguments on Tuesday, with jury deliberations to begin either later that day or on Wednesday.
If it remains on this schedule it will bring the case to a close at just over two weeks, far shorter than the original six- to eight-week estimates made by Hawk's defense team.
