Stimulus at work at LNAS

SAN DIEGO — Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southwest awarded T B Penick & Sons, Inc. of San Diego a $7 million Recovery Act funded contract June 15 to expand the child development center (CDC) at Lemoore Naval Air Station.

“The child development center expansion for NAS Lemoore will add classrooms for infants and toddlers, significantly reducing the waiting list,” said Cmdr. Machelle Vieux, NAVFAC Southwest resident officer in charge of construction at LNAS. “Child care is especially important to families at NAS Lemoore, considering the next closest town offering an infant care center is 17 miles away. The increased capacity will have a tremendous positive impact on quality of life for Sailors.”

T.B. Penick & Sons, Inc will design and construct the expansion of the existing child development center. The expanded CDC will accommodate 72 additional infants and pre-toddlers.

The contractor will complete work by summer 2010.
