Madoff sentenced to 150 years in prison

NEW YORK (AP) — Bernard Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years in prison for his multibillion-dollar fraud scheme.

U.S. District Judge Denny Chin handed down the sentenced in New York today.

The 71-year-old former Nasdaq chairman was arrested late last year after confessing to his sons that his secretive investment advisory business was a “big lie.”

He pleaded guilty to securities fraud and other charges in March and has been jailed since.

" They should have given him life! "

" Now they need to move forward with the sentencing of the CEO's of Freddie Mac and Franny Mae and throw the AIG into the mix as well. Those Wall Street investors who put peoples money into derivatives and various other schemes while giving false reports as to the safety and returns should be in prison too. "

" Alihandero - and what is the difference between 150 years and life? Am I missing something? This 71 y/o man would have to live well beyond 221 years old to have it become something less than life. "

Bobb wrote on Jul 13, 2009 9:47 PM:

" Deb; I think Alihanderp's comment was "tongue in cheek". I thought it was amusing. "
